2nd/3rd shift 4pm - 12:30 am
Pay Range
$23.65 - $35.50
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's degree with two years supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- Certification in HeartSaver AED (CPR Approved MCPT Training)
- Respiratory Training for Oxygen Tank Handling after hired. Patient Assistance Training within 90 days of hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Directs all patient transports within the Medical Center Patient Transport department.
- Monitors workflow to ensure transportation efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of care.
- Supervises and maintains staff that is qualified and properly trained.
- Ensures transport requests and departmental transportation needs are appropriately met.
- Knowledgeable of all aspects and functionalities of the Transport Tracking System.
- Maintains an equipment inventory to ensure condition and accessibility of equipment.
- Promotes the education, development and training of staff.
- Ensures the continuous quality of services by maintaining knowledge and skills.
- Participates in service recovery as part of the customer service program.
- Provides age/developmentally appropriate assistance in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
- Provides department recommendation based on reports using appropriate Transportation software.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent professional oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates competence in areas of body mechanics to identify and show proficiency in moving a patient without injury to the patient or individual
- Requires much walking, lifting and physical exertion
- Operates machines and equipment
- Ability to lift, push or pull 100-200 pounds. Requires full range of motion.
- High level of computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Requires the ability to transport patients to various on-campus locations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to walk for long periods
- Must be versatile, flexible and able to multi-task
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases
- Regular exposure to the risk of blood-borne diseases
- Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment
- Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
- Possible exposure to/occasional exposure to patient elements
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
- Handles emergency or crises
- Subject to many interruptions due to multiple calls and inquiries
- Occasionally subject to irregular hours
- Must be able to work a varied schedule and provide supervised coverage
- Handles absentee replacement on short notice
- Personal protective equipment required including eye/face protection, gown, mask and non-sterile medical gloves
