The next Head Golf Professional will join a strong leadership team to elevate the member experience while honoring the club's proud traditions.

Position Summary

The Head Golf Professional serves as the face of the golf program and a central figure in creating a warm, engaging, and memorable golf experience for all members and guests. The Professional oversees all aspects of golf operations, player development, and merchandising-while working in close partnership with the General Manager and the Golf Course Superintendent to deliver the premier golf experience in Western Pennsylvania.

This is a highly visible, service-driven leadership role requiring passion for hospitality, excellent communication, and the ability to foster collaboration across departments.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the General Manager, and works in partnership with the Golf Course Superintendent, ensuring coordinated delivery of the best-conditioned course and most enjoyable golf experience in the region.

The Head Professional will collaborate daily with the General Manager and the Golf Course Superintendent to provide an exceptional and welcoming golf experience on one of America's great courses.

Experience Required

Qualifications

Required:

• PGA of America "A" classification (or international equivalent).
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience at a private or resort golf club.
• Proven record of outstanding member service and team leadership.
• Strong business and financial management skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

Preferred:

• Experience at a nationally ranked or top-100 course.
• Familiarity with Seth Raynor, C.B. Macdonald, or Golden Age course architecture.
• Demonstrated success in collaborative leadership with course maintenance and management teams.

Key Responsibilities

Member & Guest Experience

• Lead with hospitality, creating a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly environment that ensures every member and guest feels valued.
• Anticipate member needs and continuously seek ways to enhance satisfaction, enjoyment, and engagement.
• Serve as an approachable ambassador-visible on the course, practice areas, and around the clubhouse.
• Promote and host events that bring members together, fostering camaraderie and enjoyment of the game.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate closely with the General Manager and the Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate playability, course setup, and event preparation.
• Participate actively in strategic planning and execution of the Club's golf vision, ensuring seamless coordination across departments.
• Support and mentor assistant professionals, instructors, and operations staff to maintain a culture of professionalism and service excellence.

Golf Operations & Business Management

• Direct and manage all daily golf operations, including the golf shop, tee times, carts, starters, outside operations, and pace-of-play.
• Develop and administer the annual golf operations budget, focusing on financial responsibility and innovative programming.
• Oversee tournament operations, member events, and outside outings with precision and hospitality.

Instruction & Player Development

• Lead a first-class instruction program, emphasizing player development for all skill levels-including juniors, women's golf, and new member integration.
• Utilize modern teaching tools (TrackMan, video analysis, etc.) to deliver outstanding instruction and club-fitting services.
• Cultivate a culture of learning, growth, and fun that enhances member connection to the game.

Retail & Merchandising

• Manage all golf shop operations, including purchasing, display, and sales.  Shop ownership is possible.
• Curate a merchandise mix that reflects both performance and style-aligned with member preferences and the Club's brand.
• Ensure the shop is an inviting space that reinforces the Club's welcoming atmosphere.
