SummaryThompson Palm Springs is currently recruiting an experienced and passionate Director of Hotel Operations to join the hotel's Leadership Team.
Thompson Palm Springs has quickly become the desert's most exciting lifestyle hotel since opening in 2024. P erched in the heart of downtown boasting an iconic midcentury modern design, this chic urban resort offers unique rooms, 168 bungalow-inspired guest rooms and suites available to locals and visitors alike-including a new signature restaurant with Middle East cuisine helmed by an award-winning chef, two outdoor pool venues with immersive views, plus state-of-the-art fitness, an on-site HALL Napa Valley Tasting Room and over 35,000 square feet of dynamic retail and restaurant spaces.
This candidate will have a passion and proven track record for delivering exceptional guest and colleague experiences. This highly impactful role will report directly to the Managing Director and will be a part of the Leadership Committee.
The Director of Hotel Operations will lead all hotel services including Front Office Operations, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Outdoor Recreation, Valet, and the exclusive Upper Stories guest experience.
- Responsible for short- and long-term planning and the management of the operations in the front and back of the house
- Execute on financial goals, including expense management of several departmental budgets
- Experience leading all Rooms Departments
- Ability to assimilate operational statistics quickly and see how they can be used to enhance position of property
- Experience developing standards and operating procedures
- Managing and delegating special projects
- Direct and oversee development of colleagues
- Hire, train, empower, coach and counsel, performance and motivate
- Direct the implementation of the payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory and budget
- Resolve guest concerns as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality
- Implement procedures to increase guest and associate satisfaction
- Performing daily walk-through to ensure full compliance Hyatt and local mandates
This is an exempt (salaried) role. The annual base salary range for this position is $100k - $160k. This is the pay range for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expects to pay . The Director of Hotel operations will have the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including previous experience and education.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- 6 years or more of progressive hotel Rooms experience
- Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
- Experience with Opera and other Hyatt property management programs preferred
- Strong hotel financial acumen
- Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset
- Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to drive positive impact on expense management
- Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
