Description

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be able to work with campers both individually and as a group.
• Take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of all persons involved in the program.
• Supervise Activity Night, valves, and Adventure Day Arts & Crafts activities.
• Inventory all equipment and supplies during pre-camp and post-camp.
• Update the position notebook.
• Report all necessary repairs and maintenance needs to the Head Unit Leader.
• Work with HUL to develop a budget for Arts and Crafts equipment and supplies; and order/purchase, after approval, for classes, and services for other departments. Keep the receipts and write a final budget report during post-camp.
• Maintain the Arts and Crafts area and all equipment in neat and functional condition

RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL SEACAMP STAFF:

• Help each participant adjust to other participants, staff, and camp life, and take all necessary steps to ensure health, safety and welfare of all persons (participants, staff, and guests).
• Maintain and submit accurate and complete course outlines, class records, and evaluations for each program.
• Report all requisitions for materials and supplies to appropriate leadership staff member.
• Provide supervision and care of equipment.
• Participate in general planning of program activities.
• Instruct or assist with other program activities as assigned, and supervise participants during meals, dorm and dining hall clean-up, rest hour, free time, evening program, and bedtime as assigned
• If approved, act as a driver for program and general transportation.
• Participate in camp functions and assist with participant supervision as assigned.
• Supervise dorms after evening program, including checking each room for the proper numbers & names of participants, and ensuring participants are quiet after “lights out”.
• Must be able to lead and actively participate in rigorous outdoor learning experiences.
• Must demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and willingness to work in a leadership capacity.
• Conduct yourself in a professional manner that creates a cohesive community environment.
• Make participants aware of Seacamp health and safety regulations and enforce those regulations and policies.
• Uphold and enforce Seacamp operating and conservation policies.
• Actively participate in staff training and post-season clean-up.
• Work within Maintenance, Office, Kitchen, and Hospitality Services as assigned.
• Attend all scheduled meetings.
• Perform any other duties necessary to the operation of Seacamp and the well-being of participants, guests, & staff.

Requirements

• Be at least 19 years of age.
• At least one year of college or the equivalent in experience significant to youth development.
• Working knowledge of Crafts and Basic Design.  Experience in pottery, macramé, netting, painting, etc. preferred.
• Possess and/or successfully complete during staff training:
• First Aid, CPR\AED PR, and Administering Emergency Oxygen.

The following certifications are preferred, but not required:

• NAUI Skin Diving Instructor and Rescue Diver, if SCUBA certified.
• Must successfully complete the Seacamp Captain's Workshop during staff training (written and practical).
• Online Florida Safe Boating Course and Camp Safe (completed prior to arrival)
